Information on Pembroke

Pembroke is one of the larger towns in Pembrokeshire. It is a charming walled town which dates back over 900 years and is famous for its Norman Castle. It was the birthplace of Henry VII, founder of the Tudor dynasty. A moat or castle pond extends round much of the town.

A large part of the ancient town wall still exists in Pembroke, and the main street is lined with many Georgian and Tudor houses. There is a good choice of restaurants, cafes and pubs among the local shops. There are also delis, supermarket, takeaways and other facilities aplenty.

On the first floor of the Town Hall is the Pembroke Museum, where you can learn about the long history of this delightful town. Opposite the Town Hall is Clock House, originally the site of an open market.

Pembroke is well connected with bus services to Milford Haven and Haverfordwest. There is also a railway station in the town.

Nearby special places such as Barafundle Bay, Broadhaven South and Freshwater West beaches have become famous for their picture-postcard beauty and their unbeatable locations.

Henry Tudor School is the local mixed 11-18 yrs comprehensive school with Golden Grove Community School and Monkton Priory Community School providing education for 3-11 yr olds
