Milford Haven

Information on Milford Haven

Milford Haven sits on the shores of the largest estuary in Wales and one of the deepest natural harbours in the world. In the early part of the 20th century it was the base for a very large fishing industry but today Milford Haven is better known for the oil and gas refineries on either side of the town.

Milford Haven docks still retain some small commercial function but most of the docks have been given over to a marina and marina village. It is the second largest town in Pembrokeshire after Haverfordwest. Cafes, shops and restaurants line the Milford Waterfront. There are regular visits by cruise ships exploring the west of Britain and Ireland.

With its marina, sailing is a popular pastime in Milford Haven. On the Milford Waterfront you can find a ten pin bowling alley called Phoenix Bowl.

Milford Haven also has a full range of shops, pubs and supermarkets in the town above the marina. Regular events and festivals for the whole family are held throughout the year in the town. The popular food and drink festivals are a must.

Milford Haven is a fantastic place to explore on foot, by bike and by water. With everything from panoramic views of the historic Milford Haven Waterway from The Rath, to scenic strolls around Milford Waterfront to look at the boats in Milford Marina, heritage walking trails, and access to woodland walks, beaches, the Pembrokeshire Coast Path and cycle friendly routes, it really has it all.

Milford Haven has a railway station and a good bus service linking to Haverfordwest and also out to Dale with the coastal bus service 315.

Milford Haven School provides secondary education for 11- 18 yr olds while Milford Haven Community Primary School provides primary education for 3-11 year olds
