Information on Neyland

Neyland is a small town on the northern shore of the Milford Haven Waterway a few miles east of Milford Haven. In days gone by the choice of Neyland as the terminus of the development of a railway was entirely that of Isambard Kingdom Brunel. It is therefore highly appropriate that he is regarded as the founder of Neyland Town and a bronze statue dedicated to him can be found on the waterfront. The Brunel Festival Association continues to organise a week of community events in the town.

The old railway line has since become The Brunel Cycleway, which follows the route of the old railway line to Johnston and continues on a more winding but still off-road route all the way to Haverfordwest.

Where the railway terminus once stood, a marina has been developed. The Marina has placed Neyland firmly on the yachting map. There are also boat trips that take you up river as well as out to see the offshore islands.

There’s a bar, restaurant and chandlery at the Marina. Away from the marina there are several pubs in the town as well as a small shop and several takeaways. The Cleddau Bridge carrying the A477 links Neyland with Pembroke Dock. Neyland is served by bus service number 356 connecting the town to Milford Haven and Pembroke Dock.

Primary education is provided by Neyland Community Primary School in the town, while secondary education for the 11-18 yr olds is provided at Milford School in nearby Milford Haven.
