Information on Saundersfoot

Saundersfoot is a small seaside resort in between Tenby and Amroth and has a charm and character of its own. There is a small train station but it is situated a mile out of the village. There are good bus services into Tenby and along the coast to Amroth and Pendine.

Saundersfoot harbour was originally built to transport coal from mines in and around Stepaside. Nothing remains of the mines but the route of the tramway to Saundersfoot harbour has created a fascinating section of the Pembrokeshire Coast Path. Heading inland through the woods to Stepaside, the remains of the old ironworks can be explored.

The main attraction is Saunderfoot’s Blue Flag beach which is long, wide and sandy, suited for family bathing. Saundersfoot pleasure boats run boat trips out of the harbour.

However if you want a bit more action then not far away is Battlefield LIVE!- a laser combat centre. The National Trust run Colby Woodland Garden is nearby too.

Saundersfoot hosts a range of events throughout the year including their St Nicholas Christmas fair and the famous New Years Day swim.

There are plenty of places to eat and drink around the harbour and there’s ample parking too. There are a number of great cafe’s, coffee shops, pubs and restaurants serving local produce. A short walk along The Strand leads to the award winning Coast Restaurant which was built right on the edge of the beach to take full advantage of the views right across Carmarthen Bay.

Saundersfoot Community Primary School serves the local area for pupils 3-11 years. Secondary pupils normally attend Greenhill School in nearby Tenby, and Ysgol y Preseli in Crymych or Ysgol Caer Elen in Haverfordwest for a fully bilingual secondary education.
